This book is far more than the recipes using the 100 top immune system boosting foods mentioned in the title. Although these
are included (from risottos to smoothies), one for each food, they are merely a bonus. In the first place, each of these foods is given a 1-2 page description with what effects each has on the immune system and one''s health generally. If there are cautions that are necessary (as for oxalates for those with a tendency to gout or kidney stones). Each food also has icons on each page telling what properties that food has, so that one can take a quick look, say, for cancer-preventatives or antivirals, and find them at once by these little symbols. There is also a listing on each food''s page of the specific immune-boosting nutrients which that food contains.
The book itself begins with a table of contents, where, and an
explanation of the symbols used. There follows an introduction, first to the immune system and how it works, then to how one can keep one''s immune system healthy and hence retain one''s health. This is
followed by the main part of the book, as described above. After this, there is a list of ailments , with a brief explanation of each, and a list of specific foods which are helpful in overcoming these conditions (with page references). This is followed by a glossary detailing the various nutrients and their uses by the body. Lastly, there is an index of the various foods.
