Instead of taking megadoses of supplements,get it from food.Good source are fresh fruits and vegetables as well.A glass of orange juice and a bowl of good cereal contain about 200 mg.So why pop lots of C when you can get it from food! But if you want more protection, just limit your daily intake to 500 mg.
