Calcium is the most vital and essential
element required for the building of strong bones and teeth.It is needed for all age groups especially the youngsters. Children should be given regular diet of
calcium rich foods like milk curd , yoghurt, orange juices , Broccoli and
cheese.Fat free milk is a great source of calcium because it has many essential elements good for bones and teeth. The daily diet of six month old child is 210 mg of milk and for 6 to 12 month old child it is 270 mg of calcium is required.When the child is 1 to 3 years he requires 500 mg calcium and between 4 to 8 years he requires 800 mg of calcium per day. A grown up child between the age group of 9 to 18 years needs 1300 mg milk per day
. A calcium rich diet builds strong bones and teeth and maintains a healthy mouth also .The calcium rich diet prevents a disease named Osteoporesis which might otherwise occur in the later life.According to NICHD Maryland ,the calcium rich foods are those whch contain rich calcium in them, like Plain fat free Yoghurt,Orange juice ,Ricotta cheese,American Cheese,Milk ,Soyabeens,Tofu,Soy beverages,Cheese Pizzas etc,. Broccoli,in any form is a good source of calcium.Apart from these foods spinach ,macaroni,almonds,Tortilla are good diets.
