To smoke or not to smoke?
Have you ever considered smoking? If yes, why? Many people decide to become
a chain smoker under the influence of friends. We want to be accepted so we do things, which are perceived by others as trendy. Addicts also say that they live under stress and need something to calm down. However, is it really worth to take a risk of our health for such reasons only?
Cigarette’s smoke includes four thousands of elements, compounds, which are very toxic and carcinogenic. They become absorbed to the circulation system exerting negative effects on human’s body. Smokers usually have coughs, breathlessness because of decreased efficiency of lungs. Low fertility, mat skin, discoloured nails, premature wrinkles are common results of this
addiction. Nevertheless, that is not the end. Smoking leads to heart attacks, hypertension,
increased level of cholesterol and cancers, which do not have to embrace lungs only but throat, larynx, and esophagus too.
The most dangerous is smoking by children and teenagers. Experts say that addicted students have worse results in education. They need more time to do homework, make more mistakes in test exams. It is difficult for them to learn something by heart. Children who smoke cigarettes have less height, weight, circumference of chest. As a result, they are not good at sport.
It is very hard to quit this habit. Smoking affects us not only physically but also mentally. Many people do not have a strong will or friends’ support so they give in and come back to the addiction. When we discontinue the nicotine, it is very easy to observe irritation, anxiety, nicotine-related withdrawal symptoms, weakness of concentration, sleeplessness, increased appetite. These signs rather do not encourage stopping smoking.
Nowadays this addiction is widespread but I believe that as the time will go by it would happen very rarely to come across chain smoker. We should remember that smoking causes many problems with our health. So think for a while when somebody ask you if you want to smoke. I am sure you will answer correctly.
