Most of the people around the globe really love the taste of this so called "MELON TREE FRUIT", best known as "PAPAYA". Not only because it is sweet and delicious, but also because of the benefits that you could get from it as a herbal medicine, "CARICA HERMAPHRODITA".
You usually find this Melon Tree in a tropical country like, here, in the Philippines.
The efficacy of this fruit was already tested and proven for a long period of time now.That is the reason why it is being patronized up to the present. In fact, it is always included in the numbers of beauty products now a days, due to its ability to smooth away and whiten the skin. But to what extent do you really know this "PAPAYA"?
According to some studies, the benefits of this fruit is well known not only here in the Philippines. It was found out that, even in the old history of West Indies, the people especially in the tribe, are using it as their first aid for their health.
Almost all the parts of this "PAPAYA" were found to be beneficial. The bones of this fruit can produced "volatile oil". And the leaves are very rich in "carpaine" or "alkaloid", "carposide" or "glucoside", where in .85% are saccharose, 2.6% are dextrose, and 2.1% are citrates. The juice of this "PAPAYA" is rich in "chymopapin which is responsible for breaking down of protein in the body to be used in any medical procedures. The fruit, stem, roots and even leaves are producing "papain", the most important ingredient used in most beauty products, because they are not just for smoothing away the skin but also for whitening, it also produces phytokinase, malic acid and calcium maleate, which are also beneficial for the skin. Consuming this "PAPAYA" means that you are having a protection to maintain a young skin. The reason for this is that, it is considered as "debridement", it helps in the healing of scratch or wound in the skin. It also helps in the removal of dead or damage tissue in the skin, which is really needed to have a new, fresh and smooth skin.
The other benefits of this fruit is that, it contains calcium, iron, Vit A & B, especially Vit C, which are responsible for maintaining a healthy and younger skin. But of course, the use and benefits of this "PAPAYA" will not be complete without its being "laxative", particularly to those who are suffering from constipation. It is in the way that, constipated person should eat the ripe fruit, especially if they will eat it before breakfast. This "PAPAYA",also help in treating "cystitis". For this one, boil the chopped leaves and young green fruit in several glasses of water for 15 minutes, then drink the liquid three times a day (3x/day), until such time that the infection is already cured.
In the case of "acne", mix 3 tablespoon of ripe papaya with 3 teaspoon of calamansi juice(citrus), and use it for wiping your face for 30 minutes before rinsing it with lukewarm water. While, drinking the mixture of 1cup of powdered bones and 1 cup of water after evening meals or dinner, is very effective in treating "worm infestation".
To relieve the pain due to menstrual period, you can drink the liquid from boiled flower and powdered bones, while, making tea from boiled male flower mixed with honey, can treat cough, bronchitis, laryngitis and tracheitis, the dosage for this is 1 tablespoon every hour (1 tbsp/ hr).
This "PAPAYA" also gives benefits in cooking our foods, because it acts as tenderizer for all kinds of meat.
