In India and Even in Global , statistics are revealing that the Disease Leprosy has been reached it''s elimination
goal . Many national and international NGOs , who played vital role in detection and treating cases shortened their activities. Even they closed many of their centres . As leprosy was defined as " Leprosy is communicable disease , caused by Myco bacterium leprae , it effects mainly skin and nerves ,with early detection and propt treatment disabilities can be privented ". Here noticeble thing is there is no primary prevention for Leprosy . We have only secondary prevention i.e.,curing the patient by treating with MDT .
Though the burden of Leprosy came down , there are lot of things to look after for leprosy in the society. There are no proper measurements to analysis about 1)
Awareness in the community about the disease . 2) Diagnosis capabilities of the doctores in the integration procesure as it was integrated with General Health Services .3) Diagnosis and management ot
complications like Lepra Reactions. 4) Final touch of " Active Search " with proper planning and monitoring . 5) awareness of the patient about the concequencies of the disease like diabilities and other complications.6)Awareness of the health providers about the disease , Diformities and it''s managements like Deformity care etc .
So it is time to Leprologists , NGOs , Funding agencies and Govt to look after all those things to analyse the actual situation .District wise situational analysis is needed to know the impact of previous activities and to plan for future need based actvities.Which may be vary from district to District.
