Students to face higher birth control prices

Article Abstract by: libra1977

Original Author: Josh Hantz
The article touches upon the problem of expensive contraceptives for
students in the USA
due to the Deficit Reduction
Act issued in the country a few years ago.
Drug companies have to change their policy on discounted oral
contraceptive prices. The main reason for that is the appearance of genetic contraception.
This happened even before the Deficit Reduction Act came into effect.
Student Health Service tries to provide students with contraceptives
bought in big quantities in previous years at lower prices but it will not last
long. As they run out of drugs, it is necessary to make new supplies regarding
the fact that some popular brands cost two times as much.
Consequently, sexually active students tend to purchase cheaper
contraceptives that can be harmful for their health. Meanwhile, free condoms
are available in many Universities. Student Health Service took a step to
smooth the problem of expensive contraceptives including prescription drugs in
the student health insurance plan. The shortcoming of this action is noted by
most students who have to inform their parents about this additional point in
their medical insurance.
