dying for relief

Book Abstract by: maristel02

Original Author: Cheryl Eckstain
Having a serious disease such as cancer is really difficult. It just turned one''s world upside down. It''s  like the
person suffering from a serious disease is already walking in a death row. Euthanasia is already an option for a mere relief of a disease condition. It is often called mercy killing. The author herself had attended an International Conference on Euthanasia at Harvard University. There she had seen people on wheels, I mean wheelchairs, the disabled ones. They belong in an organization, NOT YET DEAD. Perhaps the society treats them as worthless, and without functions. But on the other hand, they have lives and feelings too, because they were also people. Just like the author herself, she also became disabled at a point in her life that''s why she knows how does it feel to be one of them. It''s a very sad story that in this world social discrimination exists. Once, it is believed that euthanasia would be the answer to people in coma or being half deaths. That is a sad truth but the doctors believe that one''s suffering should be ended though it violates the rule of humanity.
