The Healing Path: Healing The Mind

Article Abstract by: Kessie22

Original Author: Dr. L. Wilson
The process of healing is not only about getting rid of symptoms.  It should be seen as a quest for achieving
wholeness and oneness.  As such, some paths to the healing of the mind include such lofty ideals as Desire and Intention, Discipline, Allowing and Surrender, Reclaiming Power, Taking Responsibility, Developing a Sense of Humor, and Detaching Emotionally, among others   Desire motivates us in everything we do.  Similarly, in the process of healing, Desire is very important.  Intention works hand in hand with Desire in order to maintain consistency.  These consistent desires in turn lead to consistent results.   Healing also often involves developing Discipline
. This does not necessarily mean harsh striving to achieve a goal, but more a honing one's skill in a particular area.   It is a fact that there are forces that control the body and emotions and these have to be brought under conscious control. One has to pursue regimens in an effort to retrain the brain. Some may even believe in the benefit of illness to learn discipline. Discipline, however, can be as simple as following a diet and doing some exercise. It may also take the form of spending working through Emotional traumas, by tapping into the depths of their psyche.   Allowing and surrender
are also important for achieving mind health.  This is done by allowing symptoms to play out as part of the healing process. Emotions may also have to surface and through unusual or uncomfortable experiences or therapies.  It is all about Allowing a process of healing to occur, instead of looking for healing to be simply an event.    From Allowing we then arrive at Surrender
.  God's Will absolutely takes precedence when faced with difficult decisions or conditions.  Eventually, one surrenders fears, feeling small and even despair.   Surrender though requires digging deeply into one’s consciousness.  This is where one finds great power, strength and mystery.  The ego part of self is transcended and peak experiences are achieved.
