The Perrin Technique - How to Beat Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME

Book Abstract by: kuchcyk

Original Author: Dr Raymond Perrin
Raymond Perrin is an English osteopath. In 1989, whilst treating a patient, he believed he had found a causal, physical connection
between CFS/ME and the symptoms presented. Up till then, and even today, there has been enormous skepticism about the nature of this illness. Many still believe it is psychological and that sufferers are work-shy malingerers. There is a growing body of evidence that this disease is real, but there is little agreement on its causes. CFS - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, affects millions of people. Treatments are varied and often unreliable. There is not even a consensus on diagnosis. What Dr Perrin does in this book is carefully explain, for both the layman and would-be practitioners of his technique, how, over a period of 17 years and using proper medical trial techniques, he has found the cause of CFS/ME and an effective osteopathic Treatment. The book lucidly demonstrates that sufferers present with similar signs and these are related to the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. One of the functions of this fluid, known since the 1860's, is the drainage of poisons (toxins) into the lymphatics system. Dr Perrin goes on to explain the purpose of the lymphatics system and a complex set of relationships this has with the organs and the nervous system. The basic premise of The Perrin Technique is that something has gone wrong with the lymphatics system's drainage and this is caused by problems with the spine itself. The Perrin Technique is a cranial osteopathic method which stimulates the drainage of the toxins, reduces the overload on the sympathetic nervous system and assists in the restoration to good health. This book is successful at a number of levels: for the sufferer it gives hope that there is a treatment for the condition and that the Technique has a high rate of success; for the practitioner it provides them with a new treatment and diagnostics for this diseases and the ability to help sufferers and thereby increase their patient base and professional standing. It should be said that Dr Perrin's conclusions are not universally accepted and the orthodox medical profession is either skeptical or downright dismissive. But, Dr Perrin has given evidence to parliamentary committees at Westminster who are looking to provide treatments for CFS/ME on the British National Health System (NHS).So, If you suffer from CFS/ME or are an osteopath this book is a must read.
