Pranayama - The Art of Yoga Breathing. Pranyama is derived from a sanskrit word meaning ''lengthening
of the prana or breath''. It''s composed of two words, ''Prana'' , life force or vital energy and ''ayama'', to lengthen or extend. It''s a kind of breathing art mentioned in the Yogic Scriptures. In today''s modern world the habit of healthy eating habits has vanished and it''s being replaced with junk and fast foods with which the body metabolism diminishes and finally results in Obesity, High Blood Pressure, High Cholestrol and Cardiac Arrest.Pranayama is the best proven method for everyoneone which could be adopted to lessen the ill-effects of these external as well as internal pressures.
Patanjali - the compiler of the "Yoga Sutra" discussed vividly about the "Art of Pranayama" in his "Yoga Sutras of Patanjali''. Miraculously, in today''s world it has been proven
beneficial whoever practised it.
Several researchers have reported that pranayama techniques are beneficial in treating a range of stress related disorders,improving autonomic functions, relieving symptoms of asthma,and reducing signs of oxidative stress.Practitioners report that the practice of pranayama develops a steady mind, strong will-power, and sound judgement, and also claim that sustained pranayama practice extends life and enhances perception.
However, many yoga teachers recommend that pranayama techniques be
practiced with care, and that advanced pranayama techniques should be practiced under the guidance of a teacher. These cautions are also made in traditional Hindu literature.
It would be great that if we start encouraging the participation of young genertion in learing these type of art it would enhances their will-power as well as for their healthy future.
