Researchers of the University of Stanford, United States, had presented the project of a new implantation of retina
that reaches a corresponding resolution to a visual acuidade of 20/80, the sufficient so that a person obtains to orient itself around of objects, to recognize faces, to read great letters and until attending TV. Already other implantations of retina exist, also in clinical tests, but none of them at least is come close to this resolution.
The scientists already are testing its biônico eye in rats, but they affirm that the tests in human beings still will delay about three years. When total developed, the new optoeletronic sensor will be able to give to artificial vision to all the people who today do not enxergam due the degeneration of the retina, an illness that kills the responsible fotoreceptores for the captation of the light.
