HIV, HUMAN FLUID INVASION- STRATEGIES Most viral infections are incurable. Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome; Influenza; Measles… etc that fall into the categories of disease caused by viruses are not easily cured.
Viruses as we have studied are simply immortal. Their
immortality can be traced to their living and non-living adaptability. By immortality, I mean viruses are little or not at all affected by chemical or physical changes in their environment, thus, they do not die easily, and they are well equipped for this kind of existence as they are protected with their DNA made of protein coats.
In fact, death, otherwise regarded as a non-living state in which life forms ceases to exist can be said to be a resting stage for a virus which soon starts to live and reproduces when in contact with a living organism.
What distinguishes the HIV virus from other virus is its intelligence. The HIV virus is a genius virus. This is because the virus combines its immortality with some ingenious combat methods to fight the human defense mechanisms.
The HIV virus is well strategizing. The
strategies are like a chameleon’s camouflage as it helps the virus to spread like wild fire in the body fluid of humans.
Its fist strategy is the ‘entrance strategy’ in which the virus invades the body fluids of its host.
The second strategy is invisibility; since the causative agent is a virus, it cannot be seen with bare eyes or a light microscope.
The third strategy is possessive strategy; by this HIV virus tries to infest and infect the body fluids of its host. Then the CD4 cells of its hosts are being attacked.
The fourth strategy is the window period: the window period is a time between infection and the production of antibodies by the white blood cells.
The last and the trickiest strategy is that the HIV virus metamorphosed to two different types: HIV1and HIV2 which attacks the human immune systems.
To stay alive, we humans too have to develop very strong strategy. What strategy have you developed?
