The Nigerian red cross Society plans to sponsor a bill at the National Society base for efficient operations.The society
emphasised that if the bill is passed into law will enable the red cross society avert some of the would be
emergencies in the Country. The Nigerian government signed a convention in 1949 in geneva swizzerland to be a contributor to the activities of the International Committee of the Redcross towards a well functioning national society.
To achieve this goal,the Nigerian Red cross Society has put in place an effective machinery to ensure that it pushes the bill through at the Country''''s National Asssembly.the bill will empower the red cross in mobilizing funds for the safety of The society and in ensuring
financial propriety through strict application of the financial management system and procedures required by the Nigerian Red cross Society.
The Regional Delegate,International Committee of the Red cross,affirmed that the financial Independence of the Nigerian Red cross would attract quick response to emergencies and capacity building;describing it as a well come development.The 13-member central Council Executive Committee agreed that they will partner with some Non-governmental Organisations like the Nigerian Union of road transport workers for self generation of funds to enaure that rescue vehicles are brought to ply all roads to reduce the spate of accidents on Nigerian roads.
