If you know the date of each one of the first Sundays of the current year, it is easy to know the days of any date
of the year. Since there are 12 months there will be 12 first Sundays. Note down the dates of the first Sundays from January to December for say 2008. The dates are 632641637527. Since the first Sunday of January is on 6th, the 13th, 20th and 27th are Sundays too. As the 27th is a Sunday the 28th will be a Monday and the 29th a Tuesday. Memorize the number for the first Sundays. What day will be the 3rd of June 2008? If you recollect the number, 632641637527 you will know that the 1st of June is a Sunday. The sixth month is June, remember. Then 2nd will be Tuesday and the third a Wednesday. Which day will be December 25th, 2008? Go to the 12th digit of the number. It is 7. Hence 14th, 21st, and 28th are Sundays. If 28th is Sunday, then 27th is Saturday, 26th Friday and 25trh Thursday. The Xmas of 2008 is on a Thursday. Well, thus, the day for any date for 2008 can easily be worked out in your mind, if you remember the 13 digit number. If you can memorize the 13 digits of the previous or succeeding years you can easily remember the day for any date of the year in question. There will be normally one day’s difference in the succeeding or proceeding years for the same dates. For instance, April 4 of 2008 is Friday. April 4 of 2009 is Saturday. The rule is Ok for any day year until the next leap year. To get a day of the next year corresponding to a date of this year, just take the next day of the day of this year’s date. When you want the day of the date of a previous year reduce one day from the day of this year’s for the corresponding date. But these rules do not hold good in the leap years. For instance, 2008 being a leap year, there will be 29 days for January and hence you will have to advance two days since
March 1 to get the correct day for a day of a date in 2007. But up to 2008 February 28th you need to advance by one day only. January 1st 2007 was Monday. And February 28th , 2007 Wednesday. January 1st 2008 was Tuesday (advanced by one day) and February 28th, 2008, Thursday. (again advanced by one day.) But let us see what happens after February 28th. There was no February 29th in 2007. So, let us take March 1st. This was a Thursday in 2007 and a Saturday in 2008( advanced by 2 days). Do so (advance by 2 days) to get the corresponding days in 2008 for all dates after March 1st. But to get the days in 2009, you need to advance by one day only from those of the dates for 2008, as 2009 is not a leap year. When you work back, the reverse rule is applicable. For instance, today, March 16th is a Sunday. March 16th in 2007 was a Friday. ( two days backward as 2008 is a leap year. But for any day before February 28th, go back by only one day. January 9th 2008 was a Wednesday and January 9th 2007 was a Tuesday. (Go back by one day) The same principle can be followed to get the date of any day of any year until 2004.whihc is a leap year. That is you can get the day corresponding to a date of any year if you can memorize the day of particular year and work forward and backward. But this may not be that simple when you are dealing with a day for a date of say,1908. here it is not practically possibleto go back subtracting one or two days as mentioned for hundred years! But then there is an easy way out. How many leap years are there in 100 years? 25. Hence if you want to wok out the day for march 1, 1908, you will have to go back by 100+25 =125 days from the this years day, that is Sunday. 125 divided by 7 gives you a quotient of 17 and reminder of 6 days. So effectively you need to go back by six days only from this years day and you get it as Monday. See march 1st 1908 would have been a Monday. Any one of you may check this out. Any day of any year of any century can be thus worked out mentally. When you perform in a stage people feel it is a great
