phase for the Atkins diet: Induction, Prolonging weight loss, Pro-maintenance and maintenance. During the first couple of weeks, The Induction phase, many people report losing 7 Kg or more, simply because the consumption of carbohydrates descend up to 20g per day. The only carbohydrates allowed in that phase are those from low- carbohydrates vegetables, and the consumption of such is limited as well. During the second phase, the Prolonging weight loss, the amount of carbohydrates raises to 25g per day. At the Pro-maintenance phase you may verify your food to see which carbohydrates you can add to your diet regime. After achieving your weight goal, you are allowed to eat all the carbohydrates you want, but the assumption is that you wouldn''t like to do so, and choosing healthy carbohydrates will become your life style. As in any other diet, you must maintain a healthy life style such as exercising regularly and quit smoking. Many have doubted the Atkins diet for its'' restricting methods, and some even claim that in the last stage of upkeep the weight goal there is a rapid return to previous weight.
