Who are you, Child? Where do you go? Am I able, as your Parent, to help
you in going up and succeeding? What do I need for that? Children are very “simple”: when you love them and care about them as about CHILDREN you receive in return 100 times more. But when you start treating them like ADULTS, all you receive in return will be misunderstanding, demotivation and so-called “bad behaviour” (resistance to your pressing influence).
Parents need to know and remember that their children are not like them. The children are looking at the outer world and try to understand its rules. And the parents need to be their good guides.
To know the world in its moves, forms, its odours and colours, its trends and moods, the children need to start from the very beginning by visiting the art-therapy lessons and experiencing the role games, based on it. Art-therapy to my opinion may be used not only as the therapy itself, but as an instrument for children to:
• get more acknowledged with possible life situations,
• be more proficient in interpersonal relations with peers,
• see more than 1 or 2 ways of solving the conflict,
• be able to make an independent choice and feel responsible for it,
• release guilty and internal uncertainty,
• experience new feelings and develop the senses by touching, seeing and smelling something different from the well-known,
• control emotions
The parents receive something useful from art-therapy as well: it helps to improve the understanding of each other inside the family. Especially, it is clearly seen when the parents take active part in children art-therapy and help the therapist to see the B-side of relations.
As you see, the reasons to say YES to children art-therapy are more than enough, if you want your child to be Self-Confident and Successful Person.
