Continued from complaint on RELC
Response from RELC‏ after I sent a complaint to Ministry of Education. There was no
reply when I sent a complaint to University Of London who forwarded it to RELC
From: Mei Ling LOW (mllow@relc.org.sg)
To: omktionna@hotmail.com
Dear Mr Lin,
1. We thank you for your email dated 15 September 2009 and have taken note of its contents. With reference to your email, we would like to take this opportunity to explain the issues concerned.
2. We will always respond to complaints directed to RELC. If for some reason we have failed to respond to your earlier email, we apologise for this.
3. The temperature taking exercise was carried out only on 7 May 2009 in accordance to health advisory. On that day, as we had anticipated a big turn out of candidates for the examination, many signages were put up to direct candidates to the temperature taking venues. We take note that perhaps more signages could have been put up.
4. Due to the time spent screening candidates, the examination did indeed start late. However, no candidate was deprived in terms of the time allocated for the paper. In other words all candidates were given the full time allowed to write the exam. We had ensured that the delay did not repeat itself for the rest of the UOL examinations.
5. All invigilators were briefed regarding exam procedures and the appropriate manner in which they should conduct themselves was impressed upon them. In the cause of the exam, should candidates encounter any disturbance or experience discomfort, they are at liberty to seek assistance from the invigilators and presiding examiners at any time by raising their hands.
6. RELC Examinations Bureau makes every effort to conduct examinations effectively and efficiently. We constantly seek to improve our service and hence we value your feedback. If you require further clarifications, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Low Mei Ling (Ms)

Dear Mr Lin,
We refer to your feedback below and are sorry to hear of your daugther's experience.
As RELC is an independent corporate entity, they are responsible for having the appropriate infection control measures, while drawing guidelines from MOH, if they would like to do so. Nevertheless, we are forwarding your feedback to the Ministry of Education (MOE) for their attention. They will look into the matter and reply to you directly. If you would like to contact the ministry directly, you can use the email address as shown above.
Thank you and we wish you good health and your daugther, academic success.
Yours sincerely,
John Heng
