Epidemic There is a new epidemic sweeping the world. It's been silently growing over
the last few decades
- only now is it reaching dramatic proportions. This new
epidemic is obesity. Countries like U.K.
and U.S.A.
are posed by a big threat of obesity. If the current trend continues, more than
one quarter of the British people will become obese by end of 2010.
Being very fat, or obese, is linked to many health
problems including heart disease, stroke, diabetes and arthritis. The
tendency toward obesity is often due to our environment: lack of physical
activity combined with high-
calorie, low-cost foods. Apart from excess calorie
intake and physical inactivity, obesity is cause due to other factors:
1. Genetic syndromes
2. Neuro-endocrine disorders -- injury to hypothalamus, thyroid deficiency,
Cushing’s syndrome, hypersecretion of insulin
3. Certain drugs -- cortecosteroids, tricyclic antidepressants etc.
So obesity needs to be treated.Some points need to be
taken care of such as:

Eat a low calorie or
carbohydrate diet.
§
Small frequent meals.
§
A high fiber and a low fat diet.
§
Regular exercise improves the fitness of
obese people and their feeling of well-being.
So for all
the people who are just overweight and not obese , just get started in
life and give yourself a different image. Because do remember,
