Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is an ancient spice
used from antiquity. It has been used to tint many dishes and as a
major ingredient of curry powders. Major ingredient of turmeric is curcumin, which possess medicinal properties. It is a mild digestive, stimulant and carminative. In Chinese medicine, it is being used as an anti-inflammatory, to treat digestive disorders and liver problems, skin diseases and wound healing. Curcumin has been proved to be stimulate the bile production and to facilitate the emptying of gall bladder.
