pomagranate for an upset stomach

Book Abstract by: munakazi

The pomagranate is a delicious and exotic fruit. It has been hailed in Greek mythology for its curative powers. In some eastern
cultures it is said that every pomagranate has one seed in it which is from Heaven. This again is probably because of its fantastic curative qualities.
In Pakistan two varieties of pomagranate are found; the larger red Qandahari and the greenish or yellow-brown smaller Beedana. The Qandahari pamagranite has deep red seeds and these are usually juicy and sour. These can be pressed to extract a blood red and delicious juice. The latter variety has pale pink or even white seeds the center of which is chewable and not brittle. This kind of pomagranate is sweeter but just as juicy.
The skin of the Beedana pomagranate when dried and ground into powder can be adminstered with water to instantly cure diarrhoea. As this is bitter and astringent one can fill pharmacy bought empty capsules with the ground skin and swallow several of these with water. One must have at least one teaspoonful of this powder for it to be really effective.
There are no side effects and people of all ages can be given this medicine.
In the northern areas of Pakistan the powdered skin is used as a poultice mixed with milk and heated and then applied to wounds to prevent infections and promote healing.
Pomagranate juice prevents the formation of plaque in arteries as it has antioxidants and powerful flavanoids. This would make a delicious cure-all for cardiac patients!
The dry skin powdered and mixed with milk or water can also be used as a facial or body scrub with excellent results.
One can freeze the skins of pomagranate which easily dehydrates them. Then simply grind some in a grinder and store in an airtight jar. If you don''t mind the bitterness of the skin you can simply swallow a spoonful with water or juice.
The skin of the larger red pomagranate can also be used while fresh. It can be ground into a paste and a spoonful taken and followed with a swig of juice or water. The taste is a little bitter and astringent.
I have found the skins of both kinds of pomagranates effective in combatting diarrhoea and the stomach gripes and nausea associated with them. The most persistent of stomach infections have been banished by this simple and natural remedy.
So do give it a try!
