ELECTRO-THERAPY AND ELECTRO-ACUPUNCTURE

Book Abstract by: Sindhumol

Original Author: Sindhumol
              Electro-Therapy employs electric current
to alleviate the pain.  Doctors use electric currents through their patients' bodies for relieving various aches.  Dentists use this method to reduce the pain when removing the teeth.  Nowadays, electrotherapy is widely used for activating the nerves the nerves which block out pain and this method is known as transcutaeous nerve stimulation (TNS).  For this, weak electric pulses are sent by a  small machine through a series of rubber pads, which are coated with jelly and taped around the area to be treated.    This is mainly used in physiotherapy.  However, people with pace maker should not be treated by this way as it affects the action of pacemaker. Electro-Acupuncture is a modified method of electro therapy.  This method is mainly being used to treat pain and sports injuries.   Electrical pulses are passed by the machine through into the body through some needles which are operated by acupuncturist.
