“Beauty comes from within and it is reflected in a clear skin,sparkling eyes,glossy hair and a fit trim body” Naturopathy as I said earlier is a treatment with the help of five panchamahabhutas namely earth,water,fire,air and ether of which our body is made up of.Now lets see how they help us beautify ourselves. Earth (Mud)-From earlier times clay has been used to cure many ailments.A person’s physical contact with earth is considered very important in naturopathy.In the era of cement and with the invention of shoes we seldom touch mother earth.As stated earlier one must get rid of body toxins if one has to look good.Mud-clay has the wonderful and unique property of absorbing toxins from the body.Only because of this property when clay (multani mitti) is applied on a boil the pus is quickly drawn out and the wound gets healed up.It also possesses a cooling effect.Hence, it is widely used for problems like acne,blackheads,dark and oily skin.Applied to abdomen area it also helps in the case of constipation.We face pollution outside our homes as well as at home.So if clay is applied all over the body followed by a cold bath the whole body becomes toxin free.This should be done once in two months only.The beneficial effects of clay on various beauty problems have been found to exceed all expectations! Ether (sky)-This panchamahabhuta is of prime importance for health and beauty.Living in apartments we all have neglected this element which is a healthful gift of nature bestowed freely upon us everywhere.Be under the sky atleast for sometime and look beautiful is the message! Air-A human being can survive without water for sometime but he cannot exist without air for longer than few minutes.Pure blood is the basic requirement of beauty and air of sufficient purity is required for purification of blood.Peolple who can spend 2-3 hours in a beauty salon cannot spare even one hour to go out in fresh air.Naturopathy advocates daily air-baths.A walk in a park having some greenery accompanied by deep breathing.Air is freshest in the morning so,morning walks are very essential.One should not cover the face while sleeping.The windows of the bedroom must be kept open to let the fresh air come in.
Fire(Sunlight)-Sun is worshipped as God in many countries.Countries like Greece,Egypt,Rome have many sun gardens so that people are benefited with this panchamahabhuta.Sunlight kills germs,purify the water and provides an essential vitamin-vitamin D.It causes sweating and helps in detoxification through skin.It also provides indirect calcium which makes the teeth and bones stronger.Sunbathing also helps to increase our height by stimulating pituitary gland.Our breathing improves during sun bathing thus we get more oxygen.Sunlight promotes speedy growth of hair and cures many skin problems.All atheletes bask in the sun regularly to develop the size of their muscles.Peolple are under wrong notion that sunbathing causes skin cancer and sunburns.One should know that sun bathing is to be done in the early morning.In winter the duration can be 20 mins but in summer it should be just 10 mins and it would do wonders! Water-Water is life.The digestive fluids in our body is nothing but 95% water.The therapy by water is called hydrotherapy.The two categories of hydrotherapy are external such as baths,sprays,compresses,and internal such as inhalations and enemas.Although it is advised not to drink water 1 hour before and after a meal as it slows down the process of digestion.Fruits contain large amount of water such as grapes,oranges,watermelon etc so thay should be included in our diet.Coconut water which 100% pure water is highly recommended.
