Many women are struggling with the phenomenon of
cellulite and it affects how they feel about themselves. The cosmetics’ companies are
promising you that the cellulite will disappear with the help of thousands of
products, crèmes, pastes… But have you ever asked yourself- what have I
actually done to fight and get rid of cellulite?
Doctors are using the term “cellulite” to describe an
infection in the cell tissue that usually occurs as a result of an infected
wound. Beauticians, women’s magazines and many therapists use the term to
describe the penetration of liquids and toxins in between the cells. Many
doctors simply state that this state does not exist and it is just another word
for fat. Some of the women struggling with cellulite suffer of excess weight,
but it can be found among thin women; I even know of a case where an anorexic
woman had cellulite.
Cellulite is accruing almost exclusively among women and it
tightly connected to hormonal balance. It is usually visible on the surface of
the thighs and sometimes is spread towards the hips and the buttocks. One of
its nicknames is “orange peel” for its wrinkly texture that differs from regular
fat. The wrinkling happens when the walls of the fat cells are gradually getting
thicker and accumulate fibre collagen that traps the liquids and the toxins
inside of it.
Aromatherapy is one of the more effective treatment methods
for this condition, when it’s accompanied by a nutritional guidance and
physical exercise- since the condition is mostly spread among women who spend
most their working hours sitting down. A woman who has cellulite might look at
it as an aesthetic problem, but a holistic therapist may view it as a symptom
for a much more severe problem of accumulation of toxins in the body, which in
turn causes a slower working of the lymphatic system. In order to treat this
condition there is a need in ethereal oils that remove toxins, stimulate the
lymphatic system, create hormonal
balance and diuresis.
I am going to list about ten of the ethereal oils, which I
alternately use in my treatment of cellulite. The treatments are being
performed in three ways: baths, crèmes and mixed oils, as well as massage.
And those are the oils:
- Pine-
helps to remove toxins out of the body.
- Grapefruit-
refreshes and adds tonus to fatigued skin. It cleans the lymphatic system
and helps against fluid retention.
- Basil-
enhances the general condition of the skin and adds shine to it.
- Juniper-
is one of the oils that treats chronic skin conditions due to its
antiseptic qualities. It also encourages the body to get rid of toxins.
- Vetiver-
great for treating skin problems- renewing skin tissue, helps old and
wrinkled skin, stretch marks that appear after giving birth or after
losing weight. This oil is also considered to be an aphrodisiac, is
balances and soothes.
- Jasmine-
considered the king among the oils. It is produced from the flowers that
are picked during the night-time, since this is the time when the scent is
in its full. It is antiseptic, stimulates cell regeneration, suits all
skin types, rejuvenates old and fatigued skin, good for dry and mature
skin, removes stress and stimulates simultaneously, can be added to a
mixture dealing with stretch marks.
- Yarrow-
acts as an astringent and great antiseptic. It’s also recommended to use
in preparation for facial toner.
- Frankincense-antiseptic,
calming astringent, renews tissues, refreshes and stimulates and gives
tonus. Slows down wrinkle formation and smoothes down already formed
wrinkles.
- Patchouli-
is great for improving skin appearance, especially after a diet.
- Rosemary-antiseptic
astringent that suites fatigues skin.
Since you need to continue the treatment for an extended
period of weeks or months, depending on the severity of the cellulite, its
duration and the degree to which the patient is willing to help herself with a
cleansing diet- it is very important to vary the mixture of the oils. I usually
start the treatment with Geranium and Rosemary and vary it by adding the above
mentioned oils. I use those oils for a massage that helps to clean and
stimulate the lymphatic system and give out some of them to use in a bath. The
treatment could speed up if the patient will use a loofa or a massaging brush or glove on the areas that
require treatment. In between the treatments I recommend a cleansing diet of
fresh fruit for a period of 3-5 days and after that a diet of wholesome foods
with an abundance of fresh vegetables.
Stress sometimes can cause cellulite because a stress out
body accumulates much more toxins and removes them much slower. The worst thing
to do is start eating when you are angry.
-note about the translation-
I have translated most parts as they were, however some
parts required to rephrase or to omit a few sentences. I guess the author did
not edit his article and some sentences just use a bunch of words or repeat
words in a way that makes no sense. The important details and the essence of
the article remained unchanged.
What do you think? I think it really makes sense and I’m
actually going to try this kind of treatment.
