  Denver embraces the ancient martial art form T'ai Chi
T’ai Chi, an ancient martial art that possibly
evolved in China is known for 2000 years. This Art form prepared an individual for self-defense in the wake of vulnerable attack. That time, when modern firearms were neither available nor one could think of, the martial art techniques helped immensely from attacks. The Chinese people became master of these martial art techniques, and it spread beyond China, making it popular elsewhere.
In the era of 21st century, self-defense techniques of any martial art form are seldom would be useful if the attacker is well prepared with self-motive to attack. In spite of this, T’ai Chi is gaining popularity in this era because of its alleged health benefits.
Among all the Midwest cities in the United States, Denver adopted T’ai Chi programs with zeal, and the Colorado province has taken up serious study to find out the relation between T’ai Chi and health. However, earlier studies have given the indication of positive connection between T’ai Chi and health. It is useful in curing or reducing effect of cardiovascular diseases, respiratory ailments, and blood pressure. Other areas of health such as arthritis, diabetes, and pain management too can be helpful with T’ai Chi, for which more studies are needed.
Slow rhythmic body movements of T’ai Chi give the viewers immense satisfaction, but that is nothing to the effective exercise regime it incorporates in one’s body. Due to its meditation dynamics principle, it brings mind and body in harmony, evolving complete calmness, which is rarely found in any other art form.
This art form has two movements, short form and long form - one opposite the other. These movements also are known as Yin and Yang. Yang is quick, intentional, and active exercise; whereas Yan follows short, repetitive, slow exercise. The master of T’ai Chi suggests that one needs to learn the slow form techniques first, become master, then only takes up the rapid form. The philosophy of T’ai Chi is to bring the attention on mind and body than to apply force on applications.
Most recreation centers of Denver, and some private organizations have opened for T’ai Chi with facilities like training, research, studies.
