If you want to live longer, eat less

What is the real clue for a longer life? There is no dearth of centurions on this planet, and the number is growing with every passing day. If living long was the only desire, then many a wealthy men could have extended their lives with the external help available in the market. But, living an extended active life is difficult. There is end number of researches carried out all over the world to know the real reason of healthy longevity, yet no one could spell out the real reason with certainty. People depend on the outcome of researches and try to follow some principles for future benefits.

The news on the Daily Mail on the same subject matter attracted my eyes and after reading the article I started thinking on it. Dr. Michael Mosley, in his presentation in the science show of BBC ‘Horizon’ quoted the suggestions of different researches saying high metabolic rate is a factor for early death. It makes sense to understand that if the body utilizes its maximum energy to digest the food, then it would lack enough energy for other functioning needed for the life to go on healthily. To correct this problem, it is suggested to eat less. Some communities in Japan and the United States follow this pattern and have seen the benefits in longevity.

Due to high metabolic rate that comes from excess eating eventually increases the free radicals creating the cause of diseases, which affect our health, according to the report. The three meal concept, which is well accepted in the society, is not really right, according to Dr. Michael. We eat more often to fulfill our habits rather than hunger, said he.
