Skin is the largest organ in our body. Our skin helps to protect us from the daily stresss of the harsh outside environment.
Skin is made of the epidermis, dermis and subcutis.
Dermis layer is particularly important as it is the place where ageing begins. This layer consists of collagen and elastin protein fibers in a gel like substance rich in moisture-binding polysaccharides. Together, these ensure healthy looking, supple and elastic skin.
But the problem begins when we notice that our skin starts ageing. What are the causes of skin ageing?
The environment, Stress, Smoking, Alcohol and Free radicals produced by UV.
These are some of the enemies of skin. The body has its own anti-oxidant system to protect from the damages, but this efficiency declines as we grow old.
Skin starts to age at the age of 25 or so depending on the life style. The early signs are skin dryness, a lackluster complexion, fine lines around the eyes, smile and fown lines. At the age of 50, menopause unleashes havoc. Observe and watch out for sun damage, hyper discoloration, permanent marks, extreme dryness and slower healing. We can not hide any of these when they become apparent.
During the first 5 years after menopause, skin loses around 30% of its collagen. It makes the skin dryer and looser while lines deepen. Women in this age group need specific ingredients to counter the extremities of menopause.
Then, what is the solution and how to combat aging ?
Skin supplements.
Yes, taking a skin supplement containing the best ingredients for the skin helps greatly in maintaining and nurturing beautiful skin. Skin supplements are clinically and scientifically proven to demonstrate a measurable improvement in skin.
There are variety of skin supplements available in the market that will greatly benefit your skin.
Some Soy extracts have structural similarity to human estrogens and have shown to stimulate collagen synthesis in dermal skin cells. Vitamin E and C and extracts white tea, lacopene and grape seed are also known to repair and nourish from within for firm, smooth and hydrated skin.
Always choose your skin care product in consultation with a medical practitioner.
