There are many crazy diets out there that promise quick weight loss, this is nothing but a pure myth, most times these diets only undermine your health.
Check out some myths and truths pointed out by the endocrinologist Ricardo Barroso:
1. Myth: Some foods have fat zero
All foods have fat, even a grilled chicken breast is fat. So to lose weight eliminate fried foods out of your diet and just use olive or canola oil and sunflower in small quantities.
In preparing food, avoid the most use oil since it is a seasoning and adds no flavor to food. To get an idea, carbohydrates and protein have about 4 calories per gram, while fats have more than doubled.
2. Myth: hot water fasting fat burning
Burn fat and eliminate weight depends on the amount of food eaten and the number of calories eliminated. A few foods accelerate metabolism, like caffeine.
Drinking hot water fast, hot tea after a meal does not eliminate a single gram of fat you eat or what you have in your body. The ideal intake is to eliminate or decrease the maximum amount of fat intake and do cardio.
3. Truth: You can eat healthy food in fast food
Fast foods may do no harm if you learn to eat a balanced way. Grills, salads and other healthy foods can also be found in fast foods. Keep an eye on the amount and form of food preparation, no fat, and preferably never fried.
4. Truth: To lose weight you must eat in small amounts throughout the day
Your body needs a certain amount of calories and nutrients each day to work well. If you skip meals during the day, are more likely to compensate in other meals. A healthy way to lose weight is to eat small amounts of food divided into five meals, which should include a variety of nutritious and low in fat.
5. Myth: Everything that is natural is good for health
A product is considered natural is not necessarily safe for your health. Some products sold on television without guidance of a physician are not usually scientifically tested to prove whether they are safe or work. Check with your doctor before using any product, natural or herbal weight-loss. You may be leaving to deal with appropriately, underestimating the risks.
6. Myth: night eating fattening
It is clear that at night your metabolism is slower. It is important to eat easily digestible foods such as vegetables, soups, juices, fruit. No matter what time of day you eat, how much is eaten throughout the day that makes you gain or lose weight.
7. Myth: Fad diets are great for losing weight
Fad diets are not the best way to lose weight. These "diets" often severely limit or prohibit certain types of food.
Be wary of any diet that restricts the major food groups lo ngo term. Food must be healthy and balanced. By following a calorie-restricted diet with a good balance between carbohydrates, proteins and fats you lose weight without harming your body and have a lower probability of recovering the lost weight.
8. Myth: red meat is bad for health
Red meat, chicken, pork and fish contain saturated fat and cholesterol. However, contain nutrients that are important to health as protein, iron and zinc. The size of one serving of meat is about the size of a deck of cards. Select pieces of meat have less fat and remove any extra fat before cooking.
9. Truth: watch TV and eat fattening
Try not to snack while doing other things like watching television, playing video games or using the computer. If you make meals and snacks in the pantry or the dining room, will be less likely to be distracted and will probably become more aware of what and how much you''re eating.
10. Myth: I can eat whatever I want and lose weight
To lose weight you must resign but some groups of foods like sweets, fried foods, pasta, etc.. After reaching the desired weight, just be aware that to keep the weight will have to adopt new lifestyle habits.
Remember that without force there will result. Each choice is a waiver. Change eg biscuits, fried foods, sweets by placing cereals, baked goods, fruits, food, lights, etc.. Above all, find pleasure in activities other than food.
