Believe it or not!
Most overweight people become fat without knowing ‘how’ and ‘what’ of their
eating. Hence we must declare that the initial step away from the blind autopilot
eating mode is conscious eating. It’s a
phase where you neutrally observe you’re eating as if under a microscope. True?
Overview:
There is no better way to start this
article then to give you a trailer of what you are about to read. Here is a foretaste of steps on how every overweight person must eat
consciously. And in order to effectively
lose weight!
·
Begin by pausing in the middle of a meal or snack for a
time-out.
·
By the same token do a quick taste
check on food eaten
·
In like manner perform a satiety check
then
·
Likewise try to discover your
fullness and its level it will help you identify your last bite threshold.
·
Similarly when you finish eating ask
yourself where your fullness level is now.
Enough of this overview, let’s now
proceed to the steps! OK?
Critical Steps No.1 Pause in the middle
of a meal or snack for a time-out.
Keep in mind that this time-out is
not a commitment to stop eating. Rather it’s a commitment to being in check
with your body and taste buds-Don’t worry! If your thoughts tell you that by passing this
step you will be obligated to leave food on your plate. Research confirms you will be reluctant to go
through this step. Whatever it is, always remember, during this time-out,
perform these checks!
Next up!
Critical Steps No.2. Taste Check:
We find that this check is usually
pleasurable, which is why we like to stress on this. Ask yourself how
the food tastes. Is it worthy of your taste buds? Or are you continuing to eat
just because the food is there. Get my drift?
Let’s pause here and ask ourselves,
are you with me so far? If ‘Yes’ let proceed further. Right?
Critical Steps No.3, Satiety Check
Ask yourself what your hunger or fullness
level. Are you still hungry, do you feel hungry or do you unsatisfied or it
your hunger going away and are you beginning to feel satisfied. In the
beginning this may be seemed like a hit or miss process. Be patient and remember
you are getting to know yourself from the inside out. It will take time. However,
the more in tune you are with your hunger level and the more you honor your
hunger, the easier this step will be.
The last but one steps, may shock
you off your socks and for woman, your stockings!
Critical Steps No.4, when you finish eating asks
yourself where your fullness level is now.
You have to answer these questions
truthfully. Did you reach comfortable satiety? Did you surpass it? By how
much? At all cost always use the
fullness discovery scale to help you get in touch.
The last critical tip may be one you
should read carefully. It’s not the least.
Critical Steps No.5, Discovering your fullness level
will help you identify your last bite threshold.
This is the endpoint. You know you
have been disconnected from your body’s sense of fullness the longer it will
take to identify this point. If you honor your hunger it is much easier to know
fullness. If however, you do not eat from biological hunger, how much could you
expect to stop from biological fullness? Please be patient with you.
Summary:
These critical steps every obese individual
must take to effectively lose weight through conscious eating can be distilled
into one neat capsule. In the first step, the weight loss devotee must begin by
pausing in the middle of a meal or snack for a time-out. Steps two do a
quick taste check on food eaten. In step number three is to perform a satiety
check. Step number four is to discover fullness level. The final step is when finish
eating one must ask oneself where the fullness level is now. Easy to understand
and practice? A big ‘yes’ if you ask me!
Conclusion:
Allow me to wrap-up with a few words of
caution. Truthfully, accomplishments that take efforts give us tremendous
satisfaction. Parenting is hard, but not unpleasant. Building your own home is
extremely difficult- but extremely satisfying task. If you're about to start eating
consciously and do fat control program, don't fool yourself into thinking it
will be easy. Approach it in the same
way you would approach being a parent, going to college, or hiking up a mountain.
It's going to be tough, but it is worth it. Need I say more? I guess not!
