Bbc Radio 4 Newsteam/2 Million 85 Year Olds in 25 Years!

Website Abstract by: SM THOMPSON

BBC Radio 4 today - lunchtime programme - had Peter Haine on air as UK Minister and in discussion with others on the programme
they predict an increase in the population of the UK from 60 million to 70 million and on top of that the age expectancy age is expected to rise in 25 years time to about 85 where Britain expects to have about 2 million 80 somethings resident in the UK.
However, the predictions are there and one wonders if in fact HM Government plans to prevent these statistics occurring and are they seen as "Bad News" not "Good News"  There has been much talk about aging populations particularly here in Britain with Old People pushed out of their homes into these awful Nursing Homes, Care Homes living for the Nurse or the Doctor to activate their daily lives!  Is this what the present Government sees as a Utopian future or are we meant to say .......the predictions are frightening and we need to move the population round the world to stop it grouping here in the UK ...interesting news from the BBC Radio 4 Newsteam!
