Pegasys interferon is a protien available within our system to fight out the antibodies created by hepatitis B.But if a patient is already suffering from hepatitis B for a long time,sufficient amount of interferonis not produced by the body.pegasys helps body to fight out these antibodies produced by hepatitis B.If pegasys is taken orally it can get lost ,hence it is taken in the form of injections.The pegasys that is injected works like natural protien interferon also it sees that the body is supplied with sufficient interferon always which will fight out the antibodies.and keeps its growth under check.
Note:If you are planing to become pregnant are a pregnant you should not take pegasys.If you have become pregnant before six month after taking pegasys(you or your spouse)then you should inform this to your Doctor..Pegasys comes ina prefilled pack with 180 mg of drug.This is the reason why it is prepared in less content.pegasys should be stored in friz at 2-8degrees centigrade..Befor injecting Pegasys it should be observed if any changes have come in the content of the Drug.If it is appearing cloudy or becomes colorless or if any difference is found in the color or the state of the drug or if expiry date is over or even if vial is not in a proper condition it should not be used.
it can be injected below navel wherever it is convnient like thighs . Injection should not be givn repeatedly at the same place again and again.initially it appears that it is a challenge but later it will become easy to adminster pegasys.After the first injection thre is a chance of geting fever.If you feel any such thing like fever ask your doctor and get clarified if you can take some thing like paracetomol.You should drink plenty of water before and after taking pegasys.Get it administered in the period where in you can take off from your work for a day or two.Take as per schedule, if you forget any of doses ask doctor and see that you will take the dose without fail.The pegasys should be taken weekly once for a period of 48 months.If you take pegasys as per schedule you will not get Hepatitis B.If you take pegasys as is informed by your doctor withou fail Hepatitis B can be controlled effectively.
