British woman becomes first-time mother at 66

Elizabeth Adeney, a wealthy business woman of 67 years of age, delivered a healthy baby boy by cesarean section at Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge on last Tuesday. The baby, who weighed 5lb 3oz at birth, has been named Jolyon, which means young at heart. Adeney is a divorcee and had her pregnancy through IVF with a donor egg at a Ukraine clinic. Thus she broke the record of Patricia Rashbrook, who became mother of a son at the age of 62 in 2006, and became the oldest mothers in Britain to give birth a child.
The Italian doctor under whose care Patricia gave birth has expressed his apprehension of giving birth beyond the age of 63 as he thinks at that ripe age the mother may not give full justice to the child in terms of love and care. Adeney is happy, and is of the opinion that nothing matters to her except her child and her. She did opine strongly by saying she is more fit than any of the younger women working for her in plastic and textile business that she runs.
Both mother and the baby is in good health and doing fine, the sources say.
