Abstract: Background: the review article will attempt to introduce to the reader a description
of intriguing
neuropsychological conditions from the literatures which are rare, but gives a fascinating insight into the complexity of the human brain and the close link between body and mind.
Aims: the main aim of this paper is to argue for abandoning the separation between body and mind. In doing so, the author hopes to dismiss this outdated dichotomy between the so called biology (organic) and psychology (functional/behavioral) and demonstrate that they are part of the same coin.
Results: The main finding in reviewing the neuropsychiatric conditions in the paper is the demonstration of the close and inseparable link between the brain (biology) and psychology (behaviour). They clearly show that even the slightest damage to the brain could result in dramatic, fascinating and sometime perplexing behaviour.
Conclusion: The huge stride made in the field of functional imaging of the brain and the genetic of mental disorders act as a support for the above argument. Added to that, a simple knowledge in
neuropsychiatry would also back the case for abandoning the above mentioned dichotomy.
