Currently, many of which complement the obstetrician clinic
with ultrasound facilities. In almost all hospitals have been providing this
investigation. To monitor the development of the fetus in the womb needs to be
done by means of an accurate examination. Then one of the tools used is
ultrasound. Ultrasonography or better known as the ultrasound is a method used
by physicians to record live images of the fetus in the womb.
There are some people who say that ultrasound can be harmful
to fetal growth. They tried to put forward the theory that the waves emitted by
such devices to the mother's womb will penetrate the organs of the fetus, so if
too frequent ultrasound examination, it can cause dangerous side effects as
waves emitted X-rays, α rays, γ rays, the rays laser and so on. Is that
correct? It is simply not true and arguably misplaced. Ultrasound meaning
itself is literally shooting with ultra sound waves. Through the use of
high-frequency sound waves (20,000 Hertz), which has been reflected to the
body, then you can see the picture of the uterus and its contents in the form
of image information (sonogram) which can be viewed on the monitor screen. So
the answer is ultrasound safe to do so for the baby and mother as well as sound
waves are not dangerous.
At the time of ultrasound examination, the doctor will give
you a gel that is placed over your abdomen, which serves as an introduction to
sound, and with a tool that will digerak moving over the abdomen with the help
of the gel, so it will produce a picture of a baby on the ultrasound monitor
screen. Today with advances in technology have also started to use 3D
ultrasound and 4D ultrasound. Functions the same as regular ultrasound. It's
just a 3D ultrasound and 4D ultrasound provides a more detailed and more
accurate, because it can be seen in the form or a 3-dimensional space, while
the 4D ultrasound can also assess motion. The use of 3D ultrasound and 4D
ultrasound is typically performed by a doctor if there is the possibility of
fetal abnormality or a history of suffering from certain diseases in the
mother's womb so it must be observed in detail. But it does not hurt also if
you make it for the benefit of others.
All you need to know that an ultrasound performed in
early pregnancy can only bedone when the bladder is full so
that the uterus lifted up and can be seen clearly on
the screen. To that end before the examination, you should
drink lots of water orhold for a while urinating until USG completed. Ultrasound examination only
takes5-10 minutes.
