Alert and watchful!
Children who have
working mothers were eating fewer healthy foods than children whose mothers stay at
home. A study in England found that fact.
Research carried out the UK Millennium Cohort Study looks at eating habits and physical activity over 12,500
children aged 9 months to 5 years.
Regardless of ethnic origin, level of maternal education and employment, researchers found children whose
mothers work part time or full eating fewer fruits or vegetables when eating or snacking.
Children whose mothers work more sitting in front of the television and the computer more than 2 hours a day. While the children whose mothers did not work in front of the TV and the computer less than 2 hours.
Children whose mothers worked more often drink sugary drinks like soda between eating time, like the snack chips and more pleased with the car driven school rather than walking or cycling.
"When an obstacle for working mothers to give their children healthy food and oversee child''s physical activity," explained the study, published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health as quoted from Chinadaily ..
Research also shows habits of children as a whole is 37 percent of the children like to eat chips or candy, 41 percent liked sweet drinks at meals, 61 percent spend at least 2 hours every day sitting in front of the TV and computer.
But researchers confirm the results of this study does not mean that mothers should not work but warned the need for action from parents and children to support a more healthy life.
