There is a war we are waging amidst daily life. Why at this time in scientific history could so many microbes be emerging,?
Science is limited to man''s lack of knowledge. Science is limited to what we know and don''t follow through with tomorrow because we found something new to work on today. Science is limited to the expectation that money is needed to continue research. In some cases, yes money is needed, but in some cases it is not. Oportunistic infections are just waiting to happen. It is fear, that quells us all into thinking that we will do all there is to do and lose the war against deadly
diseases no matter what. We are fighting time as well as
poverty and despair. Who are we as scientists to think that we can win a race against something as constant as time. At this time in history even with the knowledge we do have on how to stop them from morphing or reproducing, or producing a new strain, as well as becoming resistant to the vaccines we do develop, we race against time because as scientists research the
infectious agents and identify the infectious agents that cause
Disease the disease becomes a pandemic. It is very sickening to me that there are movies made about diseases such as eboli and that as a teenager I was pacified, told not to worry it''s just a movie, It''s all just a movie. So what really is the war then? the way a young teenagers mind was oppressed into thinking it was just a
movie so she could decide not to right then and there, give her life to becoming educated and start researching a cure. It instills fear even more to think that those things are being hidden under a movie screen as if they are not really there, as if it were just some really cool science fiction movie to take the kids to. There is also cause to worry that therein lies the warfare. Diseases emmerge, and reemerge in a manner that defies accurate predictions. Global
effort taken to identify, characterize, and decipher infectious agents has not gone unreccognized, but it has challenged science to take extraordinary effort to eradicate infectious diseases. There is particular attention being taken toward advances in scientific discovery of infectious agents on a daily basis, but there are tragic results to the strides of science as well, many diseases are preventable and treatable right when the infection occurrs. The fact that people in this day and age are stricken by something such as poverty, that would halt the progress of healing a disease that is curable is a cause for sheer outrage! Precise education, on their illness, diet and nutrition education and sanitary measures should be taked so they are not facing death from a disease because of lack of knowledge that could be so freely given them. Some of the world''s most dangerous pathogens have been given pathway to develop because of fear, poverty, and poor sanitation. Those three factors have allowed disease to become the third leading cause of death in the United States/anum and the second leading cause of death/anum worldwide. It is a global effort to identify, characterize, and decipher, not pacify. People who have limited access to health care should not be condemned. There is plenty of money out there to help and if there is not money there is always someone willing to educate. So many social and economical, and nutritional factors are constantly ignored, by state programs that developed them just for that very purpose, to fight poverty which in turn helps to wage war against the infectious agent. The conclusion is this, it is an effort to control something and face the fact that we might fail, yet another person, another generation, we may not ever, all the way, beyondof a doubt have the answer. My personal advice would be in this day and age with evolving human migration do your best to contend.
