Gps : Daily Express

Article Review   by:SM THOMPSON

Millions of patients are being put at risk by overworked GPs handing out incorrect prescriptions is the opening
paragraph on the front page of today's Daily Express. To continue - one in six patients is in danger according
to a damning new report ... family doctors are too busy and are interrupted during consultations. If that's not enough the article goes on .. Some patients have to go to hospital or are seriously ill having taken the wrong
medicine - and to cap it all - errors are uncovered in major study into GP Prescribing in England.

So ... errors range from people being given an incorrect dose to being told to take medicine at the wrong time.
It seems the Daily Express thinks as patients we are all fools, some of us may be fools some of the time but we are not fools all of the time and we can adjust the message accordingly. Afterall if our GPs advised take medicine
during drought and we had a downpour in which it rained buckets we would know to suspend it and check it out
with the GP or better still check the weather report as I had a GP once who believed in sorting out the problems
and preparing well in advance of meeting with our GPs or waiting for interruptions during consultations!

The Daily Express writes .. patients were prescribed drugs which reacted badly with pills they were already
taking - not properly monitored with blood tests - some like it hot - or .. it is deeply worrying that
dangerous mistakes are being made.

The Daily Express claims that the report is the longest of its kind ... and was Commissioned by the
General Medical Council .... for a moment I though I was reading one of my plays that is the play that was
Commissioned by Turkey and took 1O years to get published after its first performance locally which was
a great success - and finally it practically drew blood .. and it was mistake proof till publication and
so I checked and we have: ONE: WAN: 1: and so on and the readers are left to ... work it out themselves
as the playwright is busy! ............. hope the weather improves together with the mood of the GPs who
are stressed out at present as I am sympathic as I was also stressed out with the PLAY and the
resolution was publication in the US: Happy Days: Hard work pays UP!
