Environment

Article Review   by:SM THOMPSON

My poems have gone from strength to strength and from success to great success and when I received a letter from
The Prince of Wales and his wife The Duchess of Cornwall that was not all.
The theme of the poem I wrote is House: housing and houses and its a top of the agenda
ideas here in Hampshire as the continued focus has been on housing but it is also linked to the
environment.

I suppose when I or anyone for that matter remark that "I am hot" its not surprising for people
generally seek to discredit that notion and place the emphasis correctly in some cases to well being
and health.

But all it needs is to visit a shop closeby with air conditoning and that awful heat problem disappears
and there is a wonderful feeling of well being so therefore the environment has a part to play in how we
interpret the phrase "I am hot, or I am too hot".

Its easy to ignore the public at large and make it impossible for them to utter a phrase that is outside the
canon of received knowledge or intelligence and therefore it seems to be the complaints of the poor people
or the fussing of bored women with nothing better to do or even exhausted travellers on trains buses and
planes but its important to get it right once in a while.

"I am hot" cannot be ignored and perhaps its a warning to us all that we need to pay more attention to the weather and the Met Reports as its an indication of why we feel too hot. However, on the other hand if the unpleasant feelings persist then its off to see The Doctor about the health complaint and thats the best way of sorting out an individual complaint so what was once an Environmental problem now has become a health problem and what was a Health problem can turn into an economic worry so what we need to look at is the exit from the dilemma and try and Open the door some of the time, let the light shine in an give the solutions an airing!
