On August 23, 2007, an article was published by the Daily Telegraph claiming that many darkly colored fruits and vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, strawberries, and red apples can prevent, or possibly even cure various forms of cancer in all parts of the body. Various studies were conducted by a group of research scientists in many laboratories with antioxidants and human colon cancer cells. These cancer studies revealed that the antioxidants found in dark fruits and vegetables killed as much as 20% of cancer cells over time. Anthocyanins, found more often in dark colored fruits and vegetables, act as very powerful antioxidants that may help to prevent and even cure many diseases and conditions, including cancer. According to the Daily Telegraph, there are over 600 Anthocyanins found naturally in produce. Instead of spending millions of dollars on radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery, perhaps everyone should just eat their fruits and vegetables!
