Junk food diet can give you depression
So far, we knew that fat is linked with junk food; now the
researchers add this link to the depression. They have cited 58% higher risk of depression to those, who treat themselves with junk food. The researchers at the University College London scrutinize both diet and depression to see whether there is any link between those two, said Dr. archana Singh-Manoux, the main researcher. On the reverse side, fish, vegetables, and fruits minimize the risk of depression by 26%. Whereas sweetened desserts, processed foods, fried items, processed meats, refined grains, and high fat contained dairy products, increase the risk of depression by 58%, reported in the British Journal of Psychiatry.
Good health and depression has a definite link with the food habits, said Dr. Andrew McCulloch, the Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundations.
Britain being a developed country, the possibility of having food habits of Mediterranean countries is remote, hence, the indulgence of junk food, said Dr. Archana.
