In 1998 it was for me to give into my last option of back fusion.
Starting in 1992 with first surgery either, Dr. Robert or Craig Callewart (he was senior) trimmed L5S1 was bulging. Later in November of 1998, Dr. Robert & Craig Callewart (Jr.) performed the first in ten people which we me a bone screw transplant from the body of a deceased individual. They scraped my pelvis for my own bone and replaced it taking a year to heal. Within one years, I was out of major pain and had to re-learn the do''s & don''ts of how to use my new back. My height increased from 5''6" to 5''7".
Recommendations to anyone needing surgery be sure you are ready because it is quite painful and not a quick
healing process. The long term healing is worth it, however, if you can do things like lose weight, shape up, have treatments to decrease bulging, do so because it is not worth it if it is not the real deal. God gave us what we needed and if we take care of it, we will be like the energizer bunny & keep going, going and going.
I rarely experience
lower back pain unless I over do exercise. I now am almost back to my proper body weight and this is not the main cause of my disability but a factor. One year later, I received a
bulge in my upper back and I let it slow me down. However, healing is on the way. The testimonials for my lower back are my strong calf muscles.
Don''t give up when you have pinched nerves, just go study the options and pray to the spirit who made you. All blessings are from above.
