Menieres disease is a disorder of the
inner ear resulting in dizziness and loss of balance (vertigo), usually accompanied
by ringing in the ears and loss of hearing. This condition, which most frequently occurs in adults, recurs in episodes that can be days or years apart and can last from hours to days. The immediate cause is an
excess of endolymph, the fluid in the
inner ear, but the reason for the excess is not known.
