Supposing your favourite aunt suffered a lot would you feel that she should have her way and have
assisted suicide? Well,
fact is stranger than fiction and ITN blogged the news that a British couple have both died in a Swiss
Suicide clinic ... they were Sir Edward Downs age 85 and his wife age 74 .. Sir Edward was nearly blind and deaf and the couple had lived happily together over 50 years.
Sir Edward Downs was a distinguished conductor in England and he had a distinguished career in his chosen field ... when he met his wife she was a ballet dancer and they are survied by their family! Their wishes were granted in circumstances according to their desires!
Sir Edward Downs was awarded a CBE in 1986 and a Knighthood in 1991 - so the subject of
assisted suicide is not a theory these days in Europe it is a definite fact! But I did read somewhere there is a lot of opposition to assisted suicide as it creates despair in those who dont believe mercy killing is the answer to the question across the board. It certainly makes us all sit up and think! Hard work!
