Researchers from MCGill University of Montreal reported that people who regularly drink a glass of beer or a glass of strong
alcohol might be exposed to a higher risk of cancer.
3600 Canadians aged between 35 and 70 have been questioned about how often they drink. The results showed that those who consumed one of those drinks per day were likely to develop a number of cancers
compared to those who rarely or never drink
any alcohol. The listed cancers affect: the oesophage, th stomach, the colon, the lung, the pancreas, the liver and the prostate.
When reserchears investigated about the alcohol behind the damages, they stated that only beer and spirits
increase cancer risks.Wine doesn't.
Generally, the more people drink, the more cancer risks increase.
As far as the oesophage cancer is concerned, people who consume alcohol from one to six times a week are 83% more likely to develop the disease compared to those who never drink any alcohol and those who do it less regularly. The cancer risk is three times higher for every day alcohol drinkers;besides, the risk increase is generally linked to the number of years of alcoholic beverage consumption.
Numerous studies carried out came to the conclusion that drinking alcohol moderately - not more than a glass or two per day- might be good for one's health particularly when it comes to easing heart attack risks.
But,findings from the McGill research team report that even if you're a moderate consumer of beer or strong alcohol might do more harm than good.
The question whether you'll have to stop definitely alcohol consumption can't be solved by a single study according to Andrea Benedetti, one of of the research team member.
The only thng you have to do in order to avoid both cancer risk along with cardiovascular disease risk is talk to your doctor.
