Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are a group of
developmental disabilities defined by significant impairments in social
interaction and communication and the presence of unusual behaviors and
interests. ASDs cover a wide range of behaviors and abilities. No two
persons with this disorder have the same symptoms.

It is important for parents to recognize autism symptoms in
their children from their early age. The ASDs symptoms could be :

·
Children with autism do not play ‘pretend’ games

·
They do not point at an object even though it is
attractive

·
They do not look at an object that another
person points at

·
They avoid eye contact and prefer to be alone

·
Autistic children do not like to be touched or
hugged, or only want to be hugged when they want to

·

respond to other sounds

understand how to talk to them, play with or relating to them.

·
Children with autism have difficulties to
understand other people’s feelings or talking about their own feelings

·
They have trouble using typical words or motions
to express their needs

·
They repeat other people’s words or phrase, or
have echolalia

·
They repeat certain activities over and over
again

·
They love a routine day, they have trouble when
their routine changes

·
They lose skills that they once ever had

A delay in any of these areas could be a sign of a developmental
