Fiddler on the Roof- Is there a social message in this movie?
“The eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread
of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015 – form a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and all the world’s leading development institutions. They have galvanized unprecedented efforts to meet the needs of the world’s poorest.
I strongly recommend you to see the movie Fiddler on the Roof for the very visual and appealing manner in which the main character Tevye brings into focus his devotion to God and the notion that it is no crime to be poor. His values and committment to education and learning sends a strong message and i urge schools and colleges all over the world to screen this movie as a mark of respect to the producers of the movie and to galvanise global support to address the UN MDG.
The Deming System of Profound Knowledge is ideal to transform film studies into a tool for Education and Learning
