In the Mood for Love

Movie Review by: SM THOMPSON

Have you ever wished it was time to write about something completely different well your dreams have been realized in my
case my dreams are fulfilled as this film/in the mood for love directed by
Wong Kar-Wai is just that .. a refreshing and completely different approach to spending Sunday afternoon watching your favourite soap/popular series on DVD.
Hong Kong 1962 Chow is a junior newspaper editor with an elusive wife.  Chow gets involved with his neighbour a beautiful woman of immense attraction and desperate involvement ... She is a secretary whose husband is away a lot on business trips and the scene is set for sensuality and longing that will leave you breathless sometime somehow. .......
they become friends making lonely evenings more bearable.  As they see more of each other and their relationship strengthens they make much of the relationship with each other.
There is much emotion .. a lot of tears .. huge rainfall and the two major characters standing in the street drenched to the skin .. with the rain falling down relentlessly on the ground beneath their feet.
The film starts in Hong Kong 1962 and ends with a scene from Cambodia in 1966 .. with a picturesque view of walls of temples .. and a sighting of a Buddhist monk in the background.
The film/in the mood for love received Cannes Awards in 2000 for best actor, cinematography and editing ... a really worthwhile way to spend Sunday afternoon viewing this great movie. keep on viewing .. great work!
