Turistas

Movie Summary by: sardonicus

An accident of their bus leaves a group of young American backpackers on vacation in Brazil stranded in the middle of nowhere.
While standing beside the road, Alex (Josh Duhamel), his sister Bea (Olivia Wilde) and her best friend Amy (Beau Garrett) meet fellow travellers: Aussie lass Pru (Melissa George)  and wild British mates Finn  (Demond Askew) and Liam (Max Brown). A passerby tells them about a little bar on a beutiful beach just down the road. The young people decide to check it out instead of waiting for the next bus. They follow a track through the woods and soon arrive at a tucked away beach. Minutes later they are all splashing in the sea in their swimwear. At night they join the partying locals at the little bar, befriending the amicable Brazilian teenager Kiko (Agles Steib) and an European couple. Everybody is drinking and dancing and having a good time.

As they awaken terribly overhung and groggy the sun is already high in the sky, the bar is deserted and all their belongings are gone. It dawns on them that they must have been drugged. While the European couple is alredy in the hands of a gang of local criminals the others walk to the nearest village, trying to find a police station. They get into trouble with some of the residents and are only saved by the sudden appearance of their aquaintance Kiko. He offers to let them wait for the next bus at his uncle´s house -which just happens to be in the middle of the jungle, hours away from the next neighbour. Their way leads to a picturesque waterfall. There they frolic around a bit before swimming through and exploring a beautiful underwater cavern, catching breath in small air pockets.
They finally reach the supposed safe haven and start nosing around. Soon the first of them, Amy,
vanishes, just as the "uncle" and his menacing friends arrive. Only then do they realize that the people offering them shelter are running an organisation specializing in procuring fresh human organs for the black market. As the "uncle", a doctor and runner of the scheme, rationalizes: removing organs from the still living and breathing bodies of his "donors" will allow more time for transport and transplantation, thereby making it possible to cure more of the poor Brazilian children. Watching his victims suffer gives him a special pleasure, because by tormenting and kiling them he may able to avenge some of the suffering foreigners have been inflicting upon his countrymen for such a long time.
 Who will survive?
