Slumdog
Millionaire is centered on a slum kid becoming a millionaire by participating on a reality TV game show. Surprised by his all-correct
answers, the teen is summoned by local police on charges of cheating the answers. He tries to prove his honesty before the police by telling stories inspired from his own life. He says he finds the answers of the questions from the incidents happened in his life.

Mumbai, the movie is directed by Dany Boyle. Jamaal Mallik, played by an Indian origin British actor Dev Patel lives in a dingy slum of Mumbai along with brother Salim, Latika-his love and others. Jamaal Mallik then makes a rags-to-riches journey when he finds himself winning 20 million
rupees on ‘Who wants to be a millionaire?’- an Indian TV game show. Interestingly, the game show ends with one
question away of Jamaal winning 20 million rupees and the last question of the show is to be telecast next evening. The game becomes very popular and is watched by one and all seeing the unbelievable talent of the kid. But, the local police arrests Jamaal questioning his honesty in knowing the answers. Jamaal tells the police inspiring stories that he faced in his life during slum days in Mumbai.
With everybody glued to TV, Jamaal appears on the show for the last question to win 20 million rupees. But suddenly he realizes that he doesn’t want to be a millionaire and thus wants to give a wrong answer intentionally. Though, he does not know the answer of the last question, he was provided the answer by the host of the games show played by Anil Kapoor during the break. However, the answer provided to him was wrong and he picks the right answer to become a millionaire.
The plot and the story written by Simon Beaufoy is beautifully portrayed by director Dany and associated by Indian co-director Lovleena Tandan.
