“I want those 2 persons. Only they can tackle Gabbar Singh”, said “Thakur”. Of course, it is true indeed. The way, “Amitabh”
and “
Dharmendra” fought with the dacoits, in the train, it was just mind-blowing. The action-masala of “Ramesh Sippy” really worked here. For their courage, the Inspector “Sanjib” let them go. The 2 Heroes promised that, they will help the Inspector, whenever required. Now, it was the time for them to help the Inspector and his village people.
When “Veeru” and “Jay” reached Ramgarh, they met a tangawali “Basanti”. “Amitabh” asked her name, “Tumhara naam kya hai, Basanti”? As per Basanti’s statement, she never speaks too much, but still people had to hear all those nonsense lectures. And this style impressed our “Dharam pa ji”, and he fell in love. Drama
started, as “Amitabh” rightly said, “Saala, khare khare nautanki karta hai”.
But, Basanti’s ‘mausiji’ was very much impressed with “Dharmendra”, after hearing about him from “Jai”. “Dharam pa ji” tried many things. The voice of Lord Shiva flopped, but the suicide attempt drama was a super hit, as “mausiji” agreed to give Basanti to him.
One day, the goons of “Gabbar Singh” attacked the villagers. At that juncture, the 2 Heroes won the battle, but boasted “Thakur”, because, at the time of fighting, “Veeru” wanted the pistol, but “Sanjib” did not gave them. Then “Thakur” told his history, about how his family was killed, and how “Amjad” cut away his both hands by shouting, “He he, yeh haath mujhe de de thakur”. The “Thakur” was only shouting “Nahi Nahi”, but was of no use. Both “Amitabh” and “Dharmendra” gave back the money to “Sanjib”, and said they will work for free.
The defeated goons went back to “Gabbar Singh”. “Gabbar” asked “Kaalia”, “Kitney aadmi the re?” “Kaalia” uttered, “do sarkar”. “Amjad” got furious and started playing a gambling game with his pistol. He said to “Kaalia”, “Ab tera kya hogaa Kaalia?” “Kaalia” said “Maine aapka namak khaya hai sarkar”. “Gabbar” confirmed, “Ab Goli kha”. But, three goons were safe. No one got the bullets. Everyone started laughing. Now, after a moment, “Gabbar” killed all the three goons, and said, “Jo Dar gaya, samjho who mar gaya”.
“Sambha” was literally fed up, with two questions by “Gabbar”. “Kitne Inam hai humhrey upar?” and “Kab hai Holi, Holi kab hai?” But, “Sambha” was very happy to sit at a hillock, and give those answers every day.
Now, “Amjad” has notified the villagers, to give over both their “Jay” and “Veeru” to him, otherwise, “Gabbar” will start killing villagers, one by one. “Sachin”, the son of “Hangal”, went out of the village for a job, but was killed and the dead body was sent back to the village.”Hangal” now asked, “Itna sannata kyon hai bhai, koi mujhey patayega ki kya hua hai”. In this emotional meltdown, 2 heroes got furious, and took vow that they will take the revenge.
The “Thakur” had his daughter-in-law, the “Jaya” as a widow. The “Amitabh” always stared at her, and played his mouth-organ. “Jaya” used to come in the verandah, to switch off the lights. Not a single word uttered, but the romance continued with the eyes. Then they received the information, that “Gabbar” is watching the jalwa of “Helen” with the song “Mehbooba Mehbooba” of our “R.D. Burman”. The fighting started.
There was one bridge, outside the village, which connects to the hiding place of “Gabbar”. “Amitabh”, as usual, played the trick with his special “Coin”, and always winning the toss, sent back “Dharam pa ji”. The lover of widow “Jaya” died in the encounter.
Everyone got furious. At last, “Gabbar” was caught, and just “Dharam pa ji” was about to kill him, but “Thakur” told him to stop, because it was his prey.
Wow, what a “Sanjib” it was, with no hands, but the “Thorny Spikes” on his legs. “Amjad” was brutally killed by the “Thakur”, and got satisfied after taking the revenge.
This “Sholay” is still a memorable “Sholay” for all the Indian movie lovers. Hats off to “Ramesh Sippy”.
